Consumer Information on Hearing Aids & Hearing Loss

Completely-In-Canal (CIC) Hearing Aids

CIC hearing aids are designed to fit entirely in the ear canal and as such are completely unnoticeable. They are among the smallest hearing aids available on the market today.

CIC hearing aids are suited for a person with mild to moderate hearing loss and are not recommended for children as their ear canals are still growing.

One disadvantage to CIC hearing aids is that their tiny volume screw and battery doors are very difficult to manipulate. CIC hearing aids come in "canal" and "mini-canal" styles.

Because of their tiny size, CIC hearing aids are more susceptible to damage and as such have relatively high repair rates. Also, these hearing aids can suffer more from feedback.

Despite the disadvantages, CIC hearing aids provide the most natural sound amplification.
